Fantastic Follow-up Strategies for Retaining Clients (Part 1)





Client retention is important for a myriad of reasons, but the steps that you can take to retain clients don’t always have to be a mystery. Your clients will love the small details that you include in your appreciation mailers. The Nerium International family prides themselves in showing how much they care. Attention to the small details is a wonderful indication of the truth that you are thankful for each of your individual clients and his or her business. Here, you’ll find “Part 1” of strategies that will tell of your willingness to take the time to show each of your customers how valuable they truly are.

Strategy1:
Thanking individuals for their business.

Content within “thank you mailers” can get tricky, but follow these tips for a successful, sincere approach:

            -Keep the main message short and sweet
Of course you’d love to gush about your product, promote your brand and go on and on about how much you value your client. However, keeping your main message brief is likely to be more effective than a “newsletter” style update. I’ll introduce ways to incorporate extra information later on, but for now, know this: a little bit of text is plenty to get your main point across.
           
            -Possible key points to include in your message
The gist of a “thank you” mailer should, most importantly, let your clients know that you are happy to have them. Feel free to include one-liners like “look forward to these upcoming products _____.” Additionally, if the mailer is sent out a week or so before a major holiday, an appropriate closer may be “I hope that your holiday season is merry and bright,” or “I am thankful for your business and for the opportunity to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving.”

Strategy 2:
Thank your clients on a random Tuesday

There’s no reason to wait for a holiday to send out thank you notes! Everyone loves to receive validation and “no-reason” gifts are often the best kind. Thanking clients for their presence doesn’t require a special occasion. Let them know that the fact that they believe in your brand and are giving you the opportunity to share your product is occasion enough!

Strategy 3:
Consider sending anniversary celebration mailers
Once you have clients that are approaching the one-year mark, acknowledge their loyalty.  Regardless of whether you have a small handful of long-term clients or a long list of fans that are committed to your brand, sending out a “thank you” for their investment is a wonderful way to show that you care.

Following through with your clients lets them know that they are important and that you and the brand you are creating wouldn’t dare dream of letting their business go unnoticed. Appreciation mailers take only a few hours out of your day and they may be the key to retaining clients for a lifetime. Strategy 4:
Consider sending handwritten letters

You don’t have to be a graphic designer or even know a graphic designer to send an impressive letter of appreciation. In fact, a short handwritten note is the perfect way to make a client feel valued. Most businesses rely on over-the-top images and fabulous fonts to relay their message. A sincere handwritten paragraph is becoming something of a rarity. Make your business stand out make and your style of customer appreciation a commodity with a handwritten note. You will certainly view the few minutes that it takes to pen a “thank you” as a minimal effort the moment your client retention rate begins to skyrocket.

Strategy 5:
Don’t underestimate the impact of handwritten envelopes

How often have you trashed a letter from a business because you assume it is junk mail? An overuse of logos and a lack of personal touches tempt most of us to disregard a message. Go ahead and handwrite the address and return address. Add your own flair to the envelope by writing “Thank You!” “Happy Holidays!” etc. on the bottom left corner. Your clients will love the special attention. More importantly, when someone glances at an envelope that features real, human handwriting versus an expensive font, they cannot help but be intrigued.  Your “thank you” will never be tossed aside if its appearance says “thoughtful” rather than “generic.”

Strategy 6:
Specialty stamps are a spectacular way to garner attention

Next time you are at the post office, ask to browse their catalog of specialty stamps. (Specialty stamps are also available for order online.) Carefully consider your selections and gravitate towards unique stamps that are crowd-friendly and neutral when it comes to messaging. Stray from the inclination to make an intense statement with your postage choice. Instead, choose something neutral and universally engaging or enjoyable. Your goal is to decorate an envelope so that your parcel will boast a cheery, eye-catching stamp. Taking this tiny extra step will help ensure that your mail-outs don’t get discarded.

Having It All: One Career-Minded Mommy’s Story (Part 2)




The laughable scenarios that present themselves to me in my own home just never stop. However, as I mentioned in Part 1 of “Having It All,” I am just sincerely happy that now that I am a NeriumAD Brand Partner, I am able to be there to witness my kids’ antics more often. For me, that is what life is all about.
 
Raising a family while maintaining a career and saving money for retirement (and your kids’ college!) can be insanely tiresome. The ability to make my own work schedule and spend more time with my family is just one invaluable reason that I am so grateful I finally made the decision to quit my corporate job and then become a NeriumAD Brand Partner. Here are some more reasons to consider taking a less traditional career route by partnering with Nerium International.

-My sense of self-worth has skyrocketed
When I worked for someone else I was constantly reprimanded for things that weren’t even my fault. Then, when I did a magnificent job on a project, it seemed as though my work was never even acknowledged. The biggest reward I could hope for was a “pat on the back” or a brief break from being hounded by multiple managers. That kind of work environment really took a toll on my self-esteem.

Since I am now my own boss and own my own company, my confidence levels are at an all-time high. I’ve escaped being micromanaged by superiors that misinterpret situations without even asking for my side of the story. I don’t have to deal with the cutthroat competition that always seemed to hang in the air at the office. I get to relax, do my job at my own speed, and bask in my own successes. I reap the benefits of my hard work and get to watch my income increase as I continue to invest my time and effort in my own company. I’ve never been happier with my work environment because I create it! This reason, alone, is worth considering a career change and partnering with Nerium International.

-I have control over every business decision
As a NeriumAD Brand Partner I own my own business, so I have full control over every business decision that is made. Business decisions have always affected my family, and my career in the long-term. However, until now I haven’t had the freedom to make executive decisions. At my 9 to 5 job I had no say in making the choices that molded my future and my family’s future. As a business owner, I exercise complete control over these important life choices. The decisions are in my hands and I never again have to trust someone else to make them for me.

There are tons of reasons why I’m glad I made the switch from employment to owning my own business. Being there for every hilarious moment and being there for them when they need me is a benefit that no employer can give me. Starting your own business can be an intimidating decision to make, but in my personal experience with Nerium International, the benefits far outweigh the costs. Stay-at-home mommies, you can have it all! I never thought it was possible, but Nerium International has made me a believer.

Having It All: One Career-Minded Mommy’s Story (Part 1)







Recently, the surprises that this recent crazy weather we’ve been having across the country collided with the surprises that never fail to creep up on me as I make my way through motherhood. While it almost never snows in our hometown, we’ve had quite a few days of icy weather over the last month or two. Murphy’s law ensured that yesterday during a snow flurry, while my ancy 5 year-old son was with me and the car was full of groceries, I got a flat tire. “Of course,” I thought, thankful that I had no afternoon appointments to attend and that for once, the only thing I’d be late for that evening is getting a head start on preparing dinner. My son bobbed his head up and down to some CD player tunes while I shivered in the falling snow and fumbled to find the right tools to change my tire. Fifteen minutes later (it felt like an eternity,) my donut tire was intact and I was thrilled to return to my place in the driver’s seat with comforting warm air thawing my fingers.

“Honey, I’m sorry. These things happen. Are you ready to go home?” I asked my 6 year-old.

His response? “Mommy, I was curious.”

“Oh yeah? What were you curious about?” I asked.

“Mommy, I swallowed a dime.” Whoa. I was not prepared for that.

Motherhood comes with many surprises, many of which are impossible to prepare for. No matter how many books I read, forums I become a part of, magazines I subscribe to and other mommies I share stories with, I always seem to stumble upon obstacles that are completely unexpected.

Aside from the “Don’t eat that,” “Don’t stick that in your ear,” part of the job, being a mother to a 3 year-old and a 5 year-old has presented to me many other challenges that I have had trouble adapting to, the largest of which is juggling a career while taking care of the family that I love so very much. While I was working my 9 to 5 I felt like I never got to see my kids enough and I was worried I’d miss being there to watch them grow up. Being there to answer questions, kiss scraped knees, cheer at their sports games, pack the perfect lunches… these are things that I want to be present for. I eventually had to quit my corporate job.

Fortunately, that sacrifice came with a solution, and I no longer view my decision to give up my job as a sacrifice. Instead, I consider it to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. You see, only through quitting my job was I able to become a Brand Partner with Nerium International. I no longer have to report to my boss if I get a flat tire- icy weather or no. I am my own boss now! I will never again have to put my kids in daycare and comfort a nervous, frantic daycare worker while he or she exclaims things like, “Um… I don’t know how to tell you this, but your son found a dime today… and swallowed it.” I work at my own pace and make my own schedule as a Brand Ambassador, and while my boys will always be getting into mischief, I am now able to be there to handle most of it.

My newfound ability to spend more time with my kids; wipe away their tears, read them stories in the middle of the day, take them to appointments and attend upcoming soccer games (my oldest starts kindergarten and soccer practice in September- eeeek!) is just one of the reasons I’ll never regret partnering with Nerium International.
